Thesis Update

Well, it's been another long time since I've posted... anything. At least I'm consistent with that. I've spent most of the semester working with Sherrie Sinclair, Director of Traditional Animator at AAU, fine tuning my story, nailing down character designs, and drawing layouts. I'm finally at point now where I can start animating my short. Below is a test animation of one of the characters in my story. A basic walkcyle with a little bit of personality. I used a new animation program called TV Paint. Thanks to David Nethery for introducing me to the program and to Powermates. So far, I've really like using it. The line quality is great and its exactly what I've been lookng for in an animation program. I'm looking forward to posting more animation as soon I can.

Getting back to sketching

It's been three weeks since I've gone out sketching. I know! Here are some drawings that I did before I left for Florida. I'm looking forward to starting my thesis project and posting as much as possible about the progress.

Glengarry Glenn Ross

If you haven't seen this movie yet, rent it, buy it, steal it...do whatever you have to do to see it. Everything in this movie was great.

Here are some animations from Traditional Animation 2. The first and the last one are straight from Richard William's book and the second one is a personal exercise.

I finally had some free time from school to upload some of the work that I've been doing in the drawing workshops at the academy. I hope to post some more later. I also found out that the San Francisco Zoo waives the admission price on every first Wednesday of the month...so look out for some animal drawings later on.

Summer is Done!

Sorry for the 3 month absense. I moved to San Francisco after the spring semester so that I could take coursework on campus at the Academy. The weather is so much nicer here, but damn -- what the freak is up with all the hills?? Anyway, I took storyboarding with Dalton Grant over the summer and I will post some of the storyboards I worked as soon as I can. I also plan on posting most of the sketchwork I complete in the figure drawing workshops this semester. I have some from the summer workshops so I will try to get them online first.

Well, fall semester is just around the corner! My course workload consist of Preproduction, Acting For Animators, and Traditional Animation 2. I'm definitely looking forward to it, although I know in some way or another its going to kick my ass.

In the meantime, I will enjoy the Florida Gators kicking some ass this year in the SEC...Go Gators!
